Google My Business Map Listings

The GMB is an essential element to every business, Upshot Solutions preaches that no matter what kind of business you have, an online store, a phone driven service, or brick and mortar building, every business needs a GMB map listing.

When any one is searching for a service or product, they will either
A) ask someone they know and trust "who offers this service / product?"
or
B) use those free Google searches and look online to find the product / service.

The businesses in the top 3 map listing results are 70% more likely to get that first phone call or visit from the customer. Of that 70%, 74% will check at least 5 reviews before even making a purchasing decision.
When you start to learn and realize the statistics and power of these GMB's, you wonder why business owners are not taking full advantage of these listings. They not only build trust with the consumer, but also Google.

The GMB Heat Map

The GMB heat map is a tool that we use to gauge the ranking of you map listing for a particular keyword search. Other than driving all over town making the same Google search to see where you rank (which is what we did when developing the tool) we can use this to see where your map listing ranks on a scale of
1 to 20 in specific areas.

Let's say we searched for "Kitchen Remodeling Contractor" and we were in the middle of downtown
Philadelphia, PA. Your business may appear#1 in the map listings. Then we go a couple miles east
towards Cherry Hill, NJ and do the same search for
"Kitchen Remodeling Contractor".
In Cherry Hill you might be the 15th map listing in that search. Either way, if your not 1, 2, or 3, your not being displayed on the first page or in the top results. Remember, the top 3 businesses in the map listings get 70% of the phone calls and foot traffic.

GMB is the first key element to
More Calls & More Sales

Did you know Google My Business is more important than ever for your business? That's because Google has just launched Google Places, a new and powerful web-based local search engine. It is going to revolutionize how small and medium-sized businesses can increase their visibility online. It allows you to showcase your business in more ways than ever before, all while increasing your bottom line. If you're ready to take advantage of Google's power, this is the article for you.

The top 3 business listing on any search gets at least 70% of the traffic, of that 70%, 74% looks at at least 5 reviews before making a purchasing decision.

All local businesses should know that a Google Business account is free. When our SEO experts handle your Google My Business listing, you're getting a service known as GMB Management. This also gives you access to Google's AdWords, which can be a very powerful tool for generating targeted traffic to your site. And if you have a great phone number listed on Google Maps, chances are your customers will dial it, as they'll be able to find you even faster than if you had a website.

Boost Your Rankings

But there are two major functions of the Google Places listing besides finding customers. The first is to boost your Google Places ranking. That's the whole point! Google knows that when people type in a local business name (like yours or mine) or a city name (like Dallas, TX), they're looking for certain criteria, like relevance, age / authority, and citations around the web. The serps assign a particular value to your listing based on what they think your business offers. And one of those factors is the phone number you list on Google Maps.

So what happens if you don't have an actual phone number? For instance, let's say you're running a home cleaning service out of your house. You don't list your physical address with Google Places. Instead, you've listed your home phone number along with a website address, and a brief description of how you can help people get their homes cleaned. That's all you've given Google for their search, and they'll assign a value to your listing based on what they think your business offers.

If you had listed in your business name with your actual address, Google would have had to make some assumptions about where you were, and what you did. It's a much simpler task when you have a physical address, because you're actually giving Google the physical address. And Google definitely likes to see physical addresses with business names. That's why they assign greater ranking placement to listings with business names and they always have been since they first launched Google Places.

It's not just Google that assigns greater ranking placement to business names. All of the major search engines treat My Business listings with higher gravity than other listings. This is because when potential customers type in the word "my business" into Google, it wants to be sure that you're a legitimate business. If it sees that you have a listing for "My business" and that it's associated with a URL, it assumes (based on the information it has) that My business is a company that delivers cleaning services, and is therefore valuable.

If you don't have any Google My Business listings, or if your listing doesn't give any information about your listing to visitors, there is another way to create a quality backlink profile that answers questions about your listing. WordPress uses a custom plug-in called All-in-One SEO Packs that uses the WordPress plug-in template system to quickly create an informative, unique backlink profile that gives people plenty of insight into what your website is about, as well as links to any of your specific pages. You can even change the layout of the plug-ins, add your own color schemes, and more! The great thing about using WordPress for this task is that it allows you to update your profile whenever you want, without needing to go through Google.
